Join us for an evening with Dr. Flora Cassen, Senior Hartman
Fellow and Lavine Family Director of the Brandeis Center for Jewish Studies and
the Sarnat Center for the Study of Anti-Jewishness, in celebration of her new
book, Stained Glass: A Reflective History of Antisemitism.
Blending memoir, family history,
and historical analysis, Cassen traces Jewish life across Europe, from the
medieval past through the Holocaust and into the present, showing how enduring myths and prejudices continue to shape
Jewish experience. Drawing on her own
upbringing in Antwerp and her family’s history, the book offers a deeply
personal yet rigorous exploration of antisemitism across time and place.
Cassen will be in conversation
with Arno Rosenfeld, a reporter at the Forward and author of the
widely-read Antisemitism Decoded newsletter, whose analysis has been featured
on CNN, PBS and NPR. Together, they will
explore the historical roots and contemporary realities of antisemitism with
nuance and clarity.
This promises to be an evening
of rich conversation between two leading voices in the field, with time to
gather, connect, and reflect as a community.
Presented in partnership with
the Forward, the most significant
Jewish voice in American journalism, delivering incisive coverage of the
issues, ideas, and institutions that matter to American Jews.
**Refreshments will be served.**
