TP Book Launch

Join us for an evening exploring the art of rabbinic decision-making with Rabbi Aviva Richman, Rosh Yeshiva of the Hadar Institute, and Hartman Senior Faculty and author Deborah Barer, as we celebrate the release of her new book, Going Off Script: Improvisational Judgment in the Talmud. Together, they will delve into how the rabbis crafted legal and ethical responses to the challenges of daily life, how this real‑time reasoning differs from the formal decisions they rendered as judges, and what this dynamic model of judgment can offer us today.

 

The program will feature a brief study of a Talmudic story highlighted in the book, followed by open Q&A. All are welcome.
